(A) The adjusted median household income significantly influenced teen pregnancy and birth rates, but the level of abstinence education still had a significant influence on teen pregnancy and birth rates after accounting for socioeconomic status. (B) Education had a significant influence on teen birth, but not on teen pregnancy rates. After accounting for the influence of teen education, the level of abstinence education still had a significant influence on both teen pregnancy and teen birth rates. (C) The proportion of white teens (but not black teens) in the population had a significant influence on teen pregnancy and teen birth rates. After accounting for this influence, the level of abstinence education still had a significant influence on teen pregnancy and birth rates.

In addition to the federal and state funds spent on abstinence-only (level 3) education, there are other costs associated with the outcomes of failed sex education and family planning. When deciding state policies on sex education, State legislators should consider these additional costs. For example, based on estimates by the National Campaign To Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, teen child bearing (compared to first birth at 20 years or older) in the U.S. cost taxpayers (in direct and indirect costs) more than $9.1 billion in 2004.
Our data show that education (% of high school graduates taking the SAT) was not correlated with teen pregnancy rates, but it was positively correlated with teen abortion rates and negatively correlated with teen birth rates. These data can be interpreted in two ways: (1) pregnant teens who give birth are less likely to finish high school and go on to college (i.e. pregnancy affects education). This is supported by a recent report that showed that teen mothers are more likely to drop out of school: 51% of teen mothers earned their high school diploma by age 22, compared to 89% of women who had not given birth as teens. (2) teens who are motivated to go to college are not necessarily less likely to get pregnant, but more likely to abort their pregnancies (i.e. educational goal affects the decision of whether to carry a pregnancy to term).
The teenager from North Richland Hills, Texas, was at a Dallas Mavericks game with her father at the American Airlines Center in Dallas when she went to the bathroom right before halftime, according to KVUE-TV. Surveillance footage seen later that night showed the girl leaving the arena with a man, never returning to her seat at the game.
Ultimately, it was a Houston-based anti-trafficking organization, the Texas Counter-Trafficking Initiative, that successfully located the missing teenager using facial recognition technology. Thankfully, the group was able to swiftly locate a photograph of the kidnapped daughter online, according to the family attorney.
The initiative then immediately contacted staffers at the hotel in Oklahoma City. Local police officers then located the young teenager and arrested eight people in connection with the heinous crime, per WFAA-TV.
A forensic examination of BOLAN's computer found images of child pornography. The last written date range for the images were between December 2006 through March 2009. The examiner also located Internet search terms records indicative of one searching for child pornography such as: very young gay boys; young boys erection galleries; erect young boy; preteen lolita; boys pre teen sex; young boys having sex; nude boys pics; pre teen boy erection; and little boy erection.
Like other teen dramas, Pretty Little Liars features many couples who sleep together at various points in the series. Sometimes these types of shows feel the need to include a lesson when a relationship finally becomes intimate, like on Dawson's Creek when Joey and Pacey had sex and then she had a pregnancy scare. Other times, everything goes much more smoothly.
Rosewood might have been a strange, scary place to live, but the main characters on Pretty Little Liars met their soulmates there and had some romantic moments. Other times, the teen drama was very negative about sex.

The girl arrived at the hospital with an empty stomach -- and therefore with little stomach acid around -- and doctors found two holes from a stab wound that opened her stomach up to her abdominal cavity. The case report said doctors washed her stomach out with a salt solution and stitched her up.
SIOBHAN O'CONNOR 'YOUR guide to after-school snogs!' screams the cover of Sugar magazine; 'The shocking truth you couldn't tell your parents!' shrieks J-17; while the current issue of Cosmo Girl discusses bisexuality and oral sex. No wonder one parent, a father of three teenagers, hit back.
But this wasn't just any parent. Musician, Third-World campaigner, millionaire businessman and Britain's favourite 'mum', Sir Bob Geldof linked teenage girls' publications to grown men who get sexual thrills from underage girls.
Last year on a BBC 2 programme, Grumpy Old Men, Sir Bob asked: "Are they [teenage magazines] any less offensive than a 22-year-old man going to an 11- or 12-year-old and saying, 'I am going to talk to you about sex and how girls can give blow jobs to men'?"
A regulatory teen magazine arbitration panel (Tmap) was set up by the industry to deal with parents' complaints about sexual references. Critics say the panel is futile, as few parents know it exists.
Geldof's fury was focused on Mizz, Bliss, J-17, Sugar and Cosmo Girl, all of which carry sex advice and sexually themed features for a readership of 15 or below. Elle Girl wasn't on the hate list, but it remains to be seen whether Bob approves of his little girl's literary departure into the world of teen fashion.
In essence, that represents both the findings and the conslusions of disturbing, shocking, sometimes distasteful survey of teen-age sexuality in America: "CBS Reports: Boys and Girls Together" (cbs, Wednesday, 8-9 p.m., check local listings).
EXecutive producer Howard Stringer has brought together producer-director-writer Andrew Lack with correspondent Harry REAsoner to meander cross country investigating local teen sex mores and evolving attitudes and practices of the 11-to 16-year-olds. What they discovered is what researchers and social scientists have been telling us for years -- that the age level of active sexuality for large numbers of teen-agers has dropped considerably.
Says the father: "there are really no rules any more as far as adult behavior. Probably 50 percent of the people within a square mile of our homes are divorced and remarried a second or third time. The community pressure that used to keep families together is . . . gone. So there are really no rules as far as how adults behave any longer. So, I think that our teen-agers are looking at adults that they always looked up to and see that there are no rules for the adults. So, therefore, there are no rules for teen-agers any more. And so each teen-ager has to struggle in a world where there are no rules and determine, 'What is my moral commitment, what are my commitments to my family, what are my commitments to the community that I live in?" And when you have no rules, each kid can go off in a different direction . . . and be right."m 041b061a72
